The project consists of renovating an existing vacant 350,000 sf two-story concrete building into a multi-tenant creative office space in Santa Clara. The existing building had no operable windows or outdoor spaces.
The renovation will breathe new life into the existing structure and surrounding open space, softening its hard edges and making the building a fresh and inviting workspace with a palpable connection to wellness and nature.
There will be a radical “slice” taken through the building running north-south which will bring more light into the building and add another connection to the beautiful northern California landscape.
Inside the building the good qualities of the existing structure will be highlighted and showcased as unique building features including the plywood roof diaphragm and glulam beams will be exposed.
Honest materials and simple finishes have been chosen that are harmonious with a verdant environment and which evoke a sense of human scale, warmth and craftsmanship.
